Jesus The Messiah Pt. 2

How can you be so sure that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah?

Because He fulfilled ALL (more than 300) of the Messianic prophecies!

Daniel 9:25-26 gives the exact time of the Messiah's death!

Verse 25… "The Commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem"

The Commandment was issued in 443 BCE (Before the Common Era) by King Artaxerxes in the 20th year of his reign (and it is recorded in Nehemiah 2:1-8).

"Unto the Anointed the Prince"

This can be translated 'The Messiah' (which means 'The Anointed One') 'The Prince'.

"Shall be seven weeks and during threescore and two weeks"

The works 'shall be' and 'during' are NOT IN THE ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS (but are added to aid in the translation) and that's why they are italicized!

Therefore, this scriptural phrase is more properly translated: "Seven weeks and threescore and two weeks."

Daniel was saying that from the issuance of the commandment (in 446 BCE) to restore and to build Jerusalem until the Messiah, The Prince would be a time period of SEVEN WEEKS AND THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS - or a total of 69 WEEKS!

7 weeks + 62 weeks = 69 weeks

The word "weeks" here in Daniel 9:25 (Sheh-vu-im, plural) is the very same Hebrew word that is used in Genesis 29:27-30 (Sheh-vu-ah, singular) where Jacob worked for Leah and Rachel ONE WEEK EACH, or (as the context clearly brings out) SEVEN YEARS EACH!

Daniel was saying that this time span from the issuance of the commandment until the Messiah, the Prince would be 69 time periods of seven years each (69 x 7 = 483) or a total of 483 YEARS!

69 weeks (time periods) of seven years each = 483 years

Verse 26… "And after threescore and two weeks shall the Anointed (the Messiah) be cut off (killed, murdered)"

Daniel is indicating here that AFTER the final THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS (62 weeks of 7 years each), the Messiah would be "cut off" out of the land of the living (Isaiah 53:8).

If you move forward in time 483 years from the issuance of the command, that would bring you to 38 AD when, according to Daniel, the Messiah was to be cut off! (since there is no year zero, add one year to make it 39 AD).

446 BCE (Commandment to restore and build Jerusalem) until the Messiah

Daniel's Biblical Hebrew Calendar is a 360 a year, or approximately 5 days less a year than our regular calendar. Therefore, subtract 5 days a year from 483 years to bring the two calendars into balance (5 x 483 = 2415 days = -6.6 years)

According to Daniel, the Messiah, the Prince was to be "cut off" out of the land of the living at approximately 33.4 AD.
